What to wear for your Spring photography session

Featuring Mainstream Boutique

One of the questions I hear most when planning a session for a family is, “What do we wear?”.  I always tell my clients to begin with the person who is the hardest to dress, and go from there.  In most cases, that person is the mom.  On Friday, the sweet ladies at Mainstream Boutique welcomed me into their shop to do a Facebook Live about what to wear (and not wear!) to your session.  I had a blast teaming up with style coach Patty Rankin and learned some awesome new tips.  You can view the video here– and make sure to watch the awesome scarf trick at the end!

As a short recap of our video, I encourage clients to choose 3-5 complementary colors, and mix and match between that palette.  Don’t be afraid of prints!  As long as you have a great color scheme, including prints can be a great way to add visual interest.  Different fabric textures, layers, and accessories always photograph well. Above all else, wear clothing that is “you” and make sure you are comfortable!  I am always available to help my clients choose and style clothing for their session.  I can’t wait to see what we can come up with for your family!  If these tips help you feel more confident, go ahead and contact me to book your spring or summer family photography session.

Before leaving Mainstream Boutique, I had try on a few pieces and just couldn’t leave without purchasing this amazing bell sleeve top.  I love shopping local here in Edmond, OK and encourage you to check out Mainstream Boutique if you haven’t.  You won’t be disappointed!
