Plus 3 tips on how to save for your next vacation!
Last week, my husband and I returned from an amazing getaway (without kids!) to Anna Maria Island, FL. AMI is a small island, 7 miles long, just south of Tampa. The pristine, white sand beaches and authentic island vibe captivated us right away. With no high rise hotels and hardly any chain restaurants or stores, it was perfect for us. We started our trip with a segway tour to become familiar with the layout of the island. The rest of our time consisted of massages, walks on the beach, sand dollar painting, bike riding, and incredible seafood. Just as important, we were able to have uninterrupted conversations, drink our coffee while it was hot, and stay out past 7pm. I’m excited to share with you some photos from our trip. Most were just taken with my iPhone, but we did take my DSLR out to the beach with a tripod for a few at sunset. First, I thought I would give you three tips that helped us, and might help you save for your next vacation.
1. Cut the cable bill. We have been without cable for years and the savings of that bill add up in a hurry! Seeing the beach for real is so much better than seeing it on HGTV. (You may want to check out Sling, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or Netflix as more cost effective alternatives.)
2. Lower any other monthly bills you have. We have had several bills lowered, simply by calling the company and asking if it is possible. We have had success doing this with our cable bill, hospital bills, and car insurance.
3. Sell something! As a (wannabe) minimalist, getting rid of things makes me happy, and it can also fund fun, memory making trips and activities.
Memories > Stuff.
